Ice Bucket Challenge

The summer of 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, the viral phenomenon that captivated the world and has raised over $220 million worldwide.

Not only did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge raise awareness about ALS, but it also generated significant funds for research and support services.

Still, there is much to be done! Advances in research continue, policy reforms are improving, and our local programs continue to have an amazing impact on those we serve.

Staff from ALS United CT and board member Judd McArthur were at Milford's Lou Gehrig Field to recognize the 10-year anniversary of the Ice Bucket Challenge. Lou Gehrig's mother lived in Milford and was a huge fan of baseball, especially the little leagues.

ALS United CT dedicated the event to all those who have supported ALS United CT through the years, to Pete Frates, Anthony Senercia, and Pat Quinn, who started this transformational sensation, and to all those we have lost to ALS in the past decade.

Step Up and Once Again Take the Challenge!

The Ice Bucket Challenge took social media by storm in 2014 - and we'd like YOU to do it again! The challenge is simple

  1. Pour a bucket of ice water over your head
  2. Share the video on social media and challenge others to do the same
  3. Make a donation to ALS United Connecticut!
