“Living with ALS” Report Released by National Academy of Sciences
A congressionally mandated report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine recommends various actions that Congress, federal agencies, insurers, medical providers and non-profits can take to strengthen health care and support services for people living with ALS. The study was undertaken by the Committee on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: Accelerating Treatments and Improving Quality of Life, which included scientific and clinical experts from various fields as well as people living with ALS, caregivers to those with ALS, and people at risk of ALS.
The Committee undertook an 18-month study and review of the current state of ALS care and made recommendations for improvement in a number of ways.
