Every voter deserves the chance to cast their ballot privately, independently, and with dignity. Through the State of Connecticut’s Accessible Voting program, people with disabilities have multiple options to make voting easier, whether they choose to vote in person or by absentee ballot.
Accessible voting options include permanent absentee ballots for voters with long-term disabilities, emergency absentee ballots for people hospitalized close to Election Day, and curbside voting at polling locations for those unable to enter the building. Every polling place in Connecticut also has an accessible ballot-marking system with audio instructions, tactile keys, or a touchscreen to help voters mark their ballots independently. Voters with print disabilities can even receive their ballot electronically.
Voters also have the right to receive assistance from a person of their choice (with a few exceptions), file a complaint if their rights are violated, and request help if a polling place is not accessible.
